Best Tablets with Parental Controls 2023

As a mom of two, I know just how important it is to keep my kids safe online. In today's digital age, tablets have become an essential tool for learning and entertainment, but they can also expose our children to harmful content and online predators. That's why parental controls on tablets are a must-have feature for any parent.

Parental controls give us the ability to manage our children's screen time and protect them from inappropriate content. They allow us to restrict access to certain websites, apps, and features, so our kids can explore the internet safely. They also enable us to set usage limits and monitor our children's online activity—I typically try to limit my own kids' tablet usage to just 60 minutes a day, and restrict the apps they can download so that they're at least somewhat productive.

But with so many tablets on the market, how do we know which ones offer the best parental controls? That's where I come in. I've done firsthand testing with the most popular kid-friendly laptops on the market to assemble my top 4 picks on what will keep your child safe and productive.

These are hands down the best tablets with parental controls, based on my own experience as a protective mom and lover of tech. If you're looking in particular for a drawing tablet though, I'd recommend checking out 2023's Best Drawing Tablets for Kids.

Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition

Rating: 9.7/10

the fire HD kids pro, the best tablet with parental controls

First up, the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition. This tablet is designed specifically for children and comes with a kid-proof case and a two-year worry-free guarantee.

It also includes one year of access to Amazon's Kids+ which gives you free access to books, games, and apps from brands like Marvel and LEGOs.

With the Fire HD 10, you're in total control of what your kids can download from the Kids App Store — there's basically a process where the kid will request and then the parent approves. It's been painless with my little ones, though there's always the occasional tantrum when you deny a less productive app.

If you allow your kid to browse the web, Amazon's also built a special web browser that has guardrails in place so no inappropriate content is accessible to them.

Rating: 8.8/10

Second on my list — and slightly more expensive than the Amazon Fire — we have the Apple iPad Mini. This tablet offers powerful parental controls through the Screen Time feature, which allows parents to set limits on app usage, block explicit content, and even set a bedtime for the tablet. It also includes the App Store, which offers a wide range of educational apps for kids.

It's been on sale lately in 2023 so you'll want to check the latest price on Amazon.

Another great option is the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. This tablet features Samsung Kids, a platform that offers a range of parental controls, including content filters, usage limits, and the ability to set up multiple profiles for different kids. It also includes a variety of pre-installed educational apps and games.

Last but not least, we have the Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus. This tablet offers a Kids Mode that provides a safe and fun environment for kids to explore. Parents can set time limits, block inappropriate content, and even set up a PIN to prevent unauthorized access. It also includes a range of educational apps and games.

Parental controls are an essential feature for any tablet that is used by children—they provide peace of mind for parents and ensure that our kids are safe and secure while using technology. With the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition, Apple iPad with iPadOS 15, Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, and Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus, these tablets offer robust parental controls that can help keep your children safe and secure while they explore the digital world. And if you haven't already set up parental controls on your kids' devices, I highly recommend doing so. It can make a significant difference in protecting your child from harmful content and giving you peace of mind as a parent.
